Above the Sky

Dusk

When dusk turns to dark. I hope you’ll be there

While my skin may not bleed dark when the sun burns

Nor my heart sing poetry when the right notes hit

You gaze over mountains 

and down onto my valley.

And while kinship does come first

and family conquers all

Your will stomps above all,

freeing the air in my lungs 

long lost to my mother.

If I was to die tomorrow

I would only hope for you to be there

To be the final gaze, the last blur into black

For you have forever brought color to my life

And I need some paint in heaven
